Club America have taken a major step towards the final of the Mexican Torneo Apertura following a 3-0 triumph at 10-man Monterrey in the semi-final first leg.
Luis Mendoza but the visitors ahead after 32 minutes before Hiram Mier was sent off for the home side three minutes later.


And the visitors took full advantage as an own goal form Efrain Velarde a minute later and Mendoza scored his second in the 82nd to seal the win.

Who they will play in the final is less certain after Toluca and Tigres Monterrey played out a goalless draw in their first-leg tie.
